FAQ

What’s included in my Conscious Koala subscription?

You will receive 14 items of organic cotton clothing, ethically produced to the highest standard, with style and practicality in mind. A typical bundle will include 4x singlets, 3x closed foot onesies, 2x open foot onesies, 2x rompers, 2x leggings, 1x dungarees to see you through both day and night with your little one.

What’s not included?

We have designed our range to cover you for both nightwear and daywear, assuming laundry will be done twice per week. We do not include accessories such as socks, hats and bibs. If you live in a colder climate, you'll need to add knitwear and a coat in winter.

I'm concerned about Covid-19, how strict is your hygiene process?

Very! We follow a stringent hygiene and quality control process, which includes the use of gloves, disinfecting laundry baskets between uses and a hot soak to kill any bacteria. Studies show that coronaviruses prefer smooth surfaces and can only survive on fabric for 24 hours, so the risk of transmission is tiny, but nevertheless, we are following the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on cleaning and disinfecting. There is no need for extra measures at your end, the combination of detergent, agitation, rinsing and spinning that is part of your normal washing routine is very effective at rendering inactive, removing and flushing away viral loads.

How do I care for my Conscious Koala clothes?

We hope you love seeing bub grow in their Conscious Koala clothes. Here are some handy tips for keeping things fresh:

  • Machine wash at max 30 degrees. This is important, as organic cotton may shrink with washing, because it is not chemically treated.
  • Use normal detergent. We prefer to use a plant-based detergent as part of our laundering process, but feel free to wash clothes with whatever you use for the rest of the family.
  • Do not use bleach, Napisan, or any other chemicals.
  • Do not tumble dry – please use our glorious Australian sunshine to dry your clothes on the line.
  • Iron on a low to medium temperature.

How are the clothes laundered between cycles?

We a use plant based detergent called Dirt https://thedirtcompany.com.au/ and for tougher stains, will pre-soak with stain remover, both commercial and natural e.g. bicarbonate of soda.

How long do I keep my Conscious Koala clothes for?

As long as you wish, that’s the beauty of it – each bub grows at a different rate and we find age isn't always a great indicator of size.

How do I get the next size up?

Either log in to your account on the Conscious Koala website, or drop us an email at hello@consciouskoala.com to let us know you’re ready for the next size up. We’ll post out the new size right away and once received; you can return the outgrown clothes to us.

How do I return my Conscious Koala clothes?

We provide a free returns satchel with Auspost. Simply pop to your nearest post box, or pickup in major metropolitan areas can be arranged via the Auspost website for a $5 fee https://auspost.com.au/terms-conditions/parcel-pickup-terms-and-conditions.

What happens if I lose or damage an item?

We know how messy babies can be, so don’t worry about reasonable wear and tear, however, please ensure you send all items back, even if they are stained or damaged, since we may be able to restore them and what is unsuitable for re-use will be recycled. Lost items will be charged at $15, however, things often turn up in unexpected places, so this will be refunded if the item is sent back to us at a later date.

How am I billed?

You will be billed in advance on a monthly recurring basis in line with the date that the order is placed.

If you pre-order for a future delivery date you'll be billed straight away, however, you won't be billed again until a month after you've received your Conscious Koala clothes i.e. recurring payments will be aligned to your delivery date.

How do I cancel my subscription?

If Conscious Koala is not for you, that’s totally fine, we don’t have a minimum subscription period, so simply log in to your account up to 7 days before your next rental period, or drop us an email at hello@consciouskoala.com to cancel.

What are your social and environmental policies?

Conscious Koala's very ethos is centered around the planet and the people living on it, so as such, we have taken great care to ensure we work with ethical suppliers. What does this mean? Our manufacturer enforces strict environmental and social standards, no child labour or 'sweatshops' and employees must be paid a living wage. The fabric used is GOTS certified organic cotton (Global Organic Textile Standard) which is the toughest organic standard, as it goes beyond verifying the organic farming process to include every step of manufacturing. Our clothes are dyed with natural, non-toxic dyes and no bleaches or other chemicals are used. We do not use animal products. All our packaging is compostable (right down to biodegradable sticky tape!) and any clothes that can't be re-used are recycled via a textile recycling program, so we are proudly zero-waste.
